So I haven’t been posting in a while.  Partially because I was in Chicago for a wedding, and decided to take a little break from the blog world.  I’ve got another blog called Project Style; which I’m trying to figure out what i want to focus with on that.  It’s probably going to be more fashion driven, and stepintomyshoes will be just about anything I want.  So stay posted.  Labor Day weekend is coming up, and I’ll be hitting up Fashion Night Out in NYC!!! Idiom’s 2009 line

I have this infatuation  with luggage.  I haven’t really figured it out yet; whether its the utility of it, or the leather, or the idea of using it to get away its just something that i’ve always liked.  Any way here is Burtons sub brand Idiom ‘09 line…well backpack and duffle at least.

Nike Pinnacle Flagship store in Mexico

This is 1897 which is Nike’s new pinnacle flagship store in Guadalajara, Mexico.  All I have to say is that this is what retail should be all about.  Just look at how everything is carefully placed; and all the textures and space in the store.  Kudos to Nike!

Louis Vuitton goes to the Moon!

For the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11’s first lunar landing; Louis Vuitton designed a custom made “Mall Mars” trunk.  The trunk opens in various places and will be on display this Monday @ the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History.

Sometimes I don’t know if he’s for real or not.  Either way, whether your laughing @ or W/him…he’s always entertaining.  Although I do feel like he’s trying to be like the MJ of the era.

RECYCLE just not the CAPS

Ok, so with global warming becoming more of a concern with everyone in the world; I bet many of you did not know this.  At least I didn’t;  YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TOPS OF THE PLASTIC BOTTLES BEFORE YOU RECYLCE!  All this time that I been recylcing i did not know this.

Plastic Lids and Plastic Containers Don’t Mix
“Just about any plastic can be recycled,” says Signe Gilson, Waste Diversion Manager for Seattle-based CleanScapes, one of the West Coast’s leading “green” solid waste and recycling collectors, “but when two types are mixed, one contaminates the other, reducing the value of the material or requiring resources to separate them before processing.”

Recycling Plastic Lids and Caps May Pose Dangers to Workers
Also, plastic caps and lids can jam processing equipment at recycling facilities, and the plastic containers with tops still on them may not compact properly during the recycling process. They can also present a safety risk for recycling workers.

“Most plastic bottles are baled for transport, and if they don’t crack when baled the ones with tightly fastened lids can explode when the temperature increases,” Gilson says.

So recycle seperately and check with your local government for concerns.

Either way lets be GREENER!

Johnny Cupcakes

I inspire to be so many things…; sometimes its hard to put a finger on what exaclty I want to do.  Then I hear and see people like Jeff Staple, Johnny Cupcakes, Mark Arcenal, Hiroshi Fujiwara; and they do EVERYTHING!  So it inspires me to not just pick ONE thing; and just actually do everything I love.  Anyway this lil post is supposed to be about Boston’s own Johnny Cupcakes.  JC is so damn creative!  I love the way he does store openings and travels to different colleges to talk about how he got started and how anyone can do it.  Then the other day or week….He holds a pizza party in SF, where some hundred kids show up in JC shirts and get pizza for free.  HOW DOPE!
